Everyone has someone who inspires them. I remember Hard Core came out when I was in my first year of high school. Walking down 42nd Street in Hell's Kitchen when the neighborhood was transitioning to becoming more family friendly, but wasn't quite there yet. I saw these posters on construction scaffolding featuring this little brown woman with her legs open and looking daringly into the camera. All I could think was who in the hell is this woman?! I had to get her album!

Ever since being kicked out of computer class for singing her lyrics aloud, Hard Core continues to be one of my favorite albums of all time. Queen Bitch and Drugs being the best songs in my opinion. I appreciate Kim's brazen, shameless and unapologetic sexuality. When any woman is courageous enough to take such a risk artistically, personally or professionally my hat always goes off. Especially if they are from Brooklyn. *wink* Gotta love her!
